Water Quality in Coastal Waters

چکیده
The aim of this work is to introduce the potential of satellite-based remote sensing data to agencies responsible for monitoring and managing water quality in the coastal zone of Western Australia. There exists a knowledge and/or expertise gap between satellite data providers and potential end users. This project aims to close the gap by developing a fundamental management tool that will be geographically transferable around the State and Australian Coastal Zone and which will be able to provide information at local, regional and statewide spatial scales, as required for management. We expect to provide management agencies with the ability to monitor anthropogenic impacts on the coastal zone (eg. nutrient-rich wastewater intrusions, industrial and urban discharges, river and estuarine outflows) as well as monitor the long-term trends in water quality indicators over local to regional scales.

This study was conducted with the aim of providing a remotely sensed water quality index in Assaluyeh port using remote sensing technology. so, according to the region conditions, studying of scientific resources and access to satellite data, the parameters of heavymetals, dissolved ions, SST, chlorophyll-a and pH were selected. Then, by reviewing sources, the product MYD091km, MYD021km, MOD02...
متن کاملAn Approach to Developing Numeric Water Quality Criteria for Coastal Waters Using the SeaWiFS Satellite Data Record
Human activities on land increase nutrient loads to coastal waters, which can increase phytoplankton production and biomass and associated ecological impacts. Numeric nutrient water quality standards are needed to protect coastal waters from eutrophication impacts. The Environmental Protection Agency determined that numeric nutrient criteria were necessary to protect designated uses of Florida'...

This study was carried out to investigate the occurrence of potentially pathogenic species of vibrio in sea water and estuarine environments of the Caspian Sea in the Golestan province of Iran. A total of 127 water samples from coastal waters as well as from river and estuaries were collected and analyzed by culture, during April and September 2001. Following prompt centrifugation, the resusp...

The main content of the new European Water Framework Directive is presented. Within its river basin management approach, a special mention of coastal waters status is made. Among the issues at stake are the setting up of river basin management plans, including coastal waters, and water quality assessment system leading to an harmonized definition of quality objectives and their appropriate indi...
